It's your chance to get an original piece of custom-made art from me, for a grand total of $40. It started last year when the City of Robbinsdale towed my truck to make way for snow plows -- but that's another story.
Here's how it works:
You pick a subject for your piece of art. It needs to be simple enough for me to do it in approximately one to two hours. The cat in my icon is one of last year's pieces. More examples from last year's sale are here.
I will create your 5" x 7" art (on heavy paper in pastel, pencil, or paint) and put it in a nice, soft-white mat so that it will fit a standard 8" x 10" photo frame (frame not included).
I will ship it to you, anywhere in the world, via first class mail. These make really nice gifts and yes, I will create animal portraits.
Cost: $40. I accept PayPal or check. Or -- since I just had a request -- money order.
This offer is good through Jan. 1st, 2010.

As I recall, original price was $40 anyway, right? Unless you wanted a larger drawing, in which case it might have been a little more.
I know all about being poor. I'm applying for day jobs this afternoon myself.
do you happen to have a scanned/digital copy of the pic you did of Sean? i wanted to use it to advertise for you but then realized i never saved it. :p d'oh. (the original is still in a place of honor but i don't want to scan it in case it gets smuged and the light is terrible in here. i can try to take a picture of it if you don't have one but i thought i'd ask you first)

What you'd do is email me some photos, or post them to your LJ account and drop me the link to the post.
For the 5 x 7" format, close-cropped drawings of the head/chest/shoulders area generally work best. That way I can focus on the expression and personality.
They don't need to be fantastic photos. Fantastic photos are great if you have them, but most people don't, and you'd be surprised what I can work with.
